Jim Thorpe, PA- Trains are coming back to Jim Thorpe.

Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway announced yesterday that it has reached an agreement with the Borough.

A tax dispute caused the railroad company to discontinue its excursion train rides in November.

Alice Wanamaker from the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce says local businesses suffered when the popular tourist attraction ceased operation.

“We’ve heard businesses in Jim Thorpe have lost up to 25% of their business through the holiday season, so it’s already made a big impact since they’ve been gone,” says Wanamaker

The train line will be up and running again this Saturday for Winterfest in Jim Thorpe. Ticket information can be found online.

Officials from Reading and Northern Railroad say the full schedule will be available soon.
