The state unveiled a new tool providing more local details about the spread of coronavirus. The health department website now includes an interactive zip code map. The site shows which areas have been hardest hit by the virus and which areas have few reported cases. Speaking today, health secretary Dr. Rachel Levine cautioned that living in an area with a low case count does not mean residents should break social distancing orders.
“We know that everyone who has had COVID-19 has not been able to be tested especially if they have no symptoms or very mild symptoms,” said Levine.
Northampton and Lehigh Counties are two areas in the state that have seen high numbers of confirmed cases. The area with the current highest concentration of positive cases is in the heart of Allentown, in the city’s 6th, 7th and 8th wards. Zip Code 18102.
