The Pennsylvania House has turned to a seven-term Republican member to become its next speaker. The previous speaker, Mike Turzai, recently stepped down mid-term.
Today’s vote for Representative Bryan Cutler of Lancaster County made him the House’s presiding officer, one step up from the job of majority leader, a post he held for nearly two years.
Cutler is one of the fastest rises in ranks since the 1960s. The 45-year-old is the younger speaker in nearly three decades.
