Private Buses, Motorcoaches Look to Congress for Aid

Private bus and motorcoach companies are counting on Congress to save their industry, after COVID-19 decimated business.
Forty-four buses sit in the parking lot of Trans-Bridge Lines. The family-owned business is losing money every day, and president Thomas JeBran has had to lay off most of his employees.
“Right now, we can’t guarantee them any jobs or any work. So, you can’t really blame anyone for moving on,” said JeBran.
The American Bus Association says the pandemic has forced companies to furlough more than 100,000 workers nationwide, and some businesses have closed for good.
Jebran says the industry is looking to Washington for relief.
“We need a bridge to get us through all this, so we’re able to come out on the other side.”
Congress is considering a bill that would pump $10 billion back into transportation. Among the co-sponsors in Pennsylvania are one senator and 11 members of the House.
