On March 19, the team hits the floor for practice and drills.
Head Coach Sue Troyan says the team’s offense has been strong all season, and lately the defense has picked up its game.
“I think the fact that they’ve put both of those together this past week with consistent performances against strong teams has prepared us well. So they’re going into the tournament with a high level of confidence,” Troyan says.
Players will stay in their rooms during the quarantine period, using video chat for a group stretch, a yoga session, and a film study of their opponent, according to Mariah Sexe, senior captain.
“We’ll have Zoom calls going through scouts and different film looks. Looking at their team, we don’t know them too well,” Sexe says.
The 13th-seeded Mountain Hawks will have a chance to make some serious noise as underdogs in round one play. They tip off against fourth-seeded West Virginia at 8 p.m. on March 21.
Viewers can tune into ESPNU for the game.
