Pennsylvania will lift COVID mitigation orders on May 31, Memorial Day according to Gov. Tom Wolf, who, on May 4, announced the full reopening of restaurants and bars. Other gatherings will be unlimited, as well, in terms of how many people may attend.

Steve DiDonato, the founder of the Lehigh Valley Restaurant Owners Alliance, says he’s glad to see the governor took action.

“Bowl me over with a feather my friend. As far as from a restaurant’s perspective, that’s fantastic,” DiDonato says,

DiDonato says that these past months under COVID restrictions have been difficult for restaurant owners.

“I’m sort of shocked. He didn’t normally do things as quickly as he should. I think it’s long overdue and I’m glad to see they are finally making the right decisions for small businesses,” DiDonato says.

After Memorial Day, the only COVID requirement that will remain will be the need to wear a mask in public. Wolf says masking mandates will still be in effect until 70% of Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated.
