Juneteenth celebrations are taking place across the Lehigh Valley this weekend like never before.

One of the major events will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem. The family-friendly festival will include multicultural music and dance, food trucks and children’s activities.

Over in Allentown, there will be a flag raising Saturday morning at city hall. In the afternoon, Resurrected Life Community Church on Ninth Street will host a celebration that will include a DJ, food, and African music and dancing.

Then in the evening, the City of Allentown will host more live entertainment, with soul food vendors and a Juneteenth pageant. A fireworks display will end the night.

The Bethlehem NAACP will mark Juneteenth early with a gathering at 6 p.m. at the Bethlehem Sculpture Garden where you can expect to see African drumming, dance and history.
