The Allentown Health Bureau will use upcoming events as opportunities to offer COVID-19 vaccines.

First up, says Allentown Health Director Vicky Kistler, is the Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival on Aug. 1.

“We will be at the Puerto Rican festival, we will be at the Blues, Brews & Barbecue offering vaccines, but we’re encouraging people prior to those events to please get vaccinated,” Kistler said.

The Health Bureau is running a “come back safely” campaign, an initiative that, even though they have missed people gathering together in the city and they want them to come back, they want them to come back safely, she said.

The Lehigh Valley Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 1 at Executive Education Academy Charter School, 555 Union Blvd. in Allentown.
