The Child Tax Credit is copart of President Joe Biden’s latest pandemic relief package and it is hitting bank accounts starting July 15.

Listen to the story.

Most families with children will receive up to $300 a month per child under the age of 6, and up to $250 for children aged 6-17.

U.S. Rep. Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) says this money will help pay for things like childcare, healthcare, and clothing.

“And it will help families who are below the poverty line, but it’s really important to understand that a lot of middle-class people have literally gotten through the last year by the skin of their teeth. And so this is going to be, I believe, a tremendous break for those middle-class families as well,” Wild says.

These payments are a long-term investment for families, she says.

“Statistically, about 133,000 children will be eligible for this. But we have been able to calculate just over 9,000 children will be actually lifted out of poverty here in PA-7,” Wild says.
