President Joe Biden is expected to visit Mack Trucks in Lower Macungie on July 28. This is Biden’s first visit to the Lehigh Valley as president.

Listen to the story.

The visit is part of President Biden’s “Made in America” proclamation which is part of an initiative to promote U.S. products.

U.S. Rep.Susan Wild (D-Lehigh) is happy to see the president visit.

“The administration is very, very focused on a made in America economy, as am I. and making sure we are supporting good paying jobs, so I think this is the perfect place for him to come,” Wild said.

Wild also said the area’s manufacturers serve markets well beyond the region.

“I really believe that the manufacturing that happens in this district is not by any means just a local thing. We have manufacturers that compete on a global stage,” Wild said.

Not long after being elected president, Biden signed an executive order making sure federal contracts for goods come from American companies.

Biden is expected to arrive on Air Force One at Lehigh Valley International Airport about noon and travel to Mack Trucks, where he will deliver remarks a couple hours later.
