BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma and classical pianist Kathryn Stott will perform in Bethlehem next year for The Bach Choir’s annual gala concert and fundraiser.

The Bach Choir made the announcement today, July 22.

The performance will be held April 30 at Central Moravian Church. Tickets will go on sale in November and are expected to sell out quickly, organizers said.

The concert will be held just a few weeks before Conductor Greg Fungfeld leads the choir in the May Bethlehem Bach Festival. It will be his last before retiring as conductor and artistic director.

Yo-Yo Ma has visited Bethlehem before. He performed at The Bach Choir’s centennial celebration in 1998 and at the Zoellner Arts Center in 2010.

“It is an indescribable privilege and pleasure to welcome Yo-Yo Ma back to Bethlehem as a guest of The Bach Choir,” Fungfeld said in a news release. “Truly one of the world’s greatest artists – his incredible musicianship, virtuosity, passion and humanity have touched and enriched the lives of millions of souls in every corner of the globe.”

Executive Director Leela Breithaupt said the gala will come as the choir celebrates the return of in-person live performances and Fungfeld’s distinguished career.

More information about tickets for the gala and concert will be posted in the fall at bach.org.
