BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem’s standing as the Christmas City is secure but perhaps you can play a part in helping to usher in this holiday season.

The city has put out a call for Christmas tree donations.

These aren’t ordinary trees. The evergreens need to be nicely shaped and 40-50 feet tall, with a single trunk all the way to the top. The city is also on the lookout for a nicely shaped 16-to 20-foot tree.

The trees have to be within seven miles of Center City and have to be accessible from the road, with no power lines in between. The city electrician will visit to inspect the tree for acceptability.

The deadline to donate is Oct. 15, with trees being cut and collected on Nov. 3. Donors will be recognized at the annual tree-lighting ceremony at Payrow Plaza on Nov. 26.

Anyone wishing to donate should call city electrician Greg Cryder or Chris Lenhart at 610-865-7108.
