BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Historic Hotel Bethlehem, which is coming up on its 100th anniversary, has been named the best historic hotel in the nation by USA Today

Listen to the story.

Hotel marketing manager Brynn Levine says she knew it was only a matter of time before the beloved landmark took the title.

“We were recognized as number 3 in 2019 and in 2020 we were recognized as the number 2 best historic hotel,” Levine said.

USA Today said each hotel on its list has witnessed a great deal of history and held true to its historic roots.

“We’re such an anchor to Bethlehem and Main Street. The hotel truly makes the historic feel of downtown Bethlehem,” Levine said. “This recognition adds even more of a tourist attraction to downtown historic Bethlehem.”

Levine said the Hotel Bethlehem lost business due to the pandemic but kept its 125 rooms and two restaurants open.

“We never let the quality of the hotel disappear,” Levine said.

Over the past century, prominent figures like President John F. Kennedy, Thomas Edison and Ray Charles have stopped in.

“Over those 100 years we’ve had famous guests stay with us from Winston Churchill to Amelia Earhart to Shirley Temple to the Goo Goo Dolls,” Levine said.

The hotel will celebrate the win with a party next spring, which will also mark its centennial.
