Huge crowds of people expected to attend Musikfest will have to decide whether to wear a mask.

New Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines recommend everyone, vaccinated or not, wear a mask indoors in areas of high transmission.

However, Pennsylvania’s Acting Health Secretary Allison Beam said the decision to mask or not at large gatherings will be up to the individual.

“There’s a lot of self-responsibility when we lifted the mask mandate and when the mitigation efforts went away, we knew that Pennsylvanians were going to have to make decisions for themselves on what they feel is safe for them, their family, their community,” she said.

Musikfest is largely outdoors. It kicks off Aug. 6 in Bethlehem.
