The past year and a half has been traumatic for many people, including children. Many are starting the school year once again under the cloud of COVID-19. A Lehigh Valley yoga instructor is sharing ways to help kids de-stress.

Listen to the story.

Larissa Noto is a trained yoga and mindfulness instructor who works with adults and children. The Breinigsville mom of three says parents can use movement and breathing to help calm their kids at a time that may be chaotic with new back-to-school routines, and traumatic amid a pandemic.

Noto said yoga is a form of mindfulness that helps bring both kids and adults into the present moment even in the middle of a global health crisis.

“We’re not thinking about something that happened at school on the playground mask, not mask, like having those moments, where you’re feeling all those big emotions and big feelings about everything that’s happening right now. That’s behind you. You’re here now,” she said.

Noto also goes into schools to teach students and staff how to take a break using yoga and mindfulness for a calm interlude.
