The Lehigh Valley honors Memorial Day today with several events across the region.

In Easton, a parade and commemoration ceremonies are planned.

Listen to the story.

The parade is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Sixth and Northampton streets.

From there, it will proceed to the Free Bridge where the mayors of Easton and Phillipsburg will toss a ceremonial wreath into the Delaware River, according to a city spokesperson.

Marching bands from Easton Area High and Middle schools will perform as part of the day’s events.

At SteelStacks in Bethlehem, a memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. It’s part of a larger commemorative event that began Saturday.

A luminary display honoring veterans begins at 8 p.m., also on the SteelStacks campus.
