Pa. adds $12.5M for apprenticeship and training programs

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry is releasing $12.5 million to help workers advance their careers.
The funding will provide support for apprenticeship and training programs statewide.
The department said the aim is to create competitive grant opportunities that support a diverse workforce and underserved populations.
The department’s Apprenticeship and Training Office will deliver the money through competitive grants.
In previous years, the Lehigh Valley has benefited from PAsmart funds through the Smart Energy Initiative of Southeastern PA; the Finishing Trades Institute of the Mid-Atlantic Region; and programs at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Applications for apprenticeship funding are open through Oct. 13.
