Lehigh Valley candidates for local office had to file petitions to run in the May 18 primary by the end of the day on March 9.

The list of candidates running for Allentown mayor now includes one Republican: Tim Ramos and five Democrats:

The Allentown City Council race currently has nine Democrats and one Republican running to fill four seats.

And County Executive Phillips Armstrong, a Democrat, now has a Republican opponent, former County Controller Glenn Eckhart.

There are plenty of other local races in play. The unofficial list is on the Lehigh County website.

Northampton County’s will be available March 10.

Candidates have a week to dispute signatures and try to kick their opponents off the ballot. That official list comes in late March.
