State leaders agree to move Pennsylvania’s primary election to June 2, measure awaits governor’s signature

A measure to postpone Pennsylvania’s presidential primary until June 2nd is on its way to Governor Tom Wolf’s desk.
PA Post’s Emily Previti reports Wolf has said he’ll sign it.
The state Senate and House have passed the measure unanimously.
Representative Kevin Boyle says it doesn’t go far enough.
But the Democrat representing parts of Philadelphia and Montgomery counties says given the public health crisis, the priority is moving the election.
“I think we should have included mail-in voting, an allocation of funds for counties to send out applications for mail-in votes, but hopefully we can move to address that in weeks to come,” said Boyle.
In addition to postponing the 20-20 primary, the measure would give counties more flexibility to reassign election workers, move polling locations and consolidate precincts.
The changes respond to concerns about staffing the polls on April 28th because many workers have preemptively called out, citing the pandemic.
