Pennsylvania’s unemployment compensation system is about to undergo an overhaul that includes an entirely new online portal. June 2 is the last day to file a claim before the system shuts down for the upgrade.

People receiving state unemployment payments will be required to look for work again starting in July.

Pennsylvanians will not be able to file unemployment claims when the state upgrades its computer system, starting later this month.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced April 8 that it will overhaul its unemployment compensation system after years of delays. The upgrade comes after a year of record unemployment claims filed due to the pandemic.
