EASTON, Pa. – This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated COVID-19 masking recommendations.
Vaccinated or not, people should wear masks indoors in areas of “substantial” coronavirus spread, they said.
Recent state data showed Northampton County as one of those areas.
But Northampton County is not yet requiring masking indoors despite the new CDC recommendations, officials said.
County Executive Lamont McClure said for the time being the county is “aggressively encouraging every eligible resident to become vaccinated.”
The county is continuing to monitor the situation closely following guidance from the CDC and the state’s department of health, he said.
In Bethlehem, Kristen Wenrich, the city’s health director, said they have not made any decisions about mandating masking in response to CDC recommendations.
