covid relief

Now that Congress has passed the new COVID relief plan, state and local governments are learning whether they can use the money for roads and county health bureaus.

Lehigh County has received its share of the $1.9 trillion new COVID-19 relief bill, also known as the American Rescue Plan. Part of that is $24 million will help the county’s financially strapped tenants and landlords.

Not all restaurants have survived the pandemic, and those still in business are looking for help. Pennsylvania just received $145 million for CHIRP, the COVID Hospitality Industry Recovery Program and $7.5 million of that is for Lehigh Valley.

The COVID relief package has passed in Congress and is now on its way to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed.

A $1.9 trillion dollar COVID-19 relief bill is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives on March 9.
