President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to make permanent a program that protects some undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country illegally as children.

A federal court recently ruled the acting head of the Department of Homeland Security could not legally work in the position and invalidated some of the Trump administration’s restrictions on young undocumented immigrants.

Immigrants who are seeking protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program are dealing with bad news this week. The federal government says it will not accept new DACA applications.
