Ballot-on-demand is now available for the May 18 primary election for Northampton County residents

Pennsylvania’s municipal primary election is May 18, and three voter options could mean higher turnout. 

Ballot-on-demand is now available for Northampton County residents.

“You come in in-person, you apply here, and we immediately print your ballot out and hand you everything to vote here in the office. And you can turn it in all in one trip,” says Amy Cozze, Northampton County’s chief registrar of Elections. 

This option is not available for those who’ve already requested a mail-in ballot. 

Cozze says so far she’s approved 20,000 of those, just about the same number of voters that came out for the last municipal election. 

“And I think that’s definitely a result of the permanent mail-in list. So we sent those applications out in February and I think that a lot of people that don’t normally participate in a municipal primary, thought ‘oh if you’re going to mail me a ballot, I’ll vote,’” Cozze says. 

The county will mail out ballots at the beginning of next week. 

And there is always the option to vote in person at a polling place on May 18.
