BETHLEHEM, Pa. – St. Luke’s University Health Network is encouraging people to think about their health while enjoying Musikfest.

The initiative, called the “Get Your Tail on the Trail Musikfest Walking Challenge,” features signs posted throughout the event with a QR code that concert goers can scan and track their steps for a chance to win tickets to one of next year’s headliners.

Listen to the story.

Millie Hall traveled from Piscataway, N.J., for the festivities and thinks it’s a great way to get people moving.

“Everybody needs to get off their butt because I already walk 10,000 steps a day and it’s good for me,” Hall said.

Hall’s friend Debbie Lauria agreed, and sees it as “an incentive to participate” that helps motivate people.

“Everybody needs to be outside and not inside and you know, doing their part getting more healthy and breathing in the fresh air,” Lauria said.

Participants are asked to log their steps walking between stages on the north and south sides of Bethlehem during the 10-day festival.

Tracking at least 10 miles earns you a place in a drawing for free concert tickets.

The Musikfest walking challenge is part of a larger, 165-mile walking initiative hosted by St. Luke’s. The program wraps up in November.
