Pennsylvania launched a new program on Feb. 9 aimed at helping people find out when they may be eligible for the coronavirus vaccine. State officials say they hope to streamline vaccine distribution with the launch of a new website called “Your Turn.”
Lindsey Mauldin, special assistant to the secretary at the Pennsylvania Department of Health, says she believes the program will clear up confusion about who can get the vaccine.
“We are asking that you know when it’s your turn. This way, we can make sure our most vulnerable residents can get vaccinated now,” Mauldin says.
The website helps people find out where to go to get a shot and if they are eligible. But, it doesn’t register users for appointments, which are currently in high demand. The news comes as Gov. Tom Wolf announced he has created a legislative joint vaccine task force to try and speed up vaccinations. Mauldin says she welcomes the help.
“It’s very important for us to be very cooperative with our legislative partners but we are also working internally to determine the best path forward on vaccine distribution,” she says.
The new task force includes a bi-partisan membership in the hopes of getting lawmakers to collaborate on vaccine distribution.
The “Your Turn” website also allows people to register their email addresses so they can be notified when they become eligible.
