Pa.’s U.S. senators team up on bipartisan plan to reform oversight for nursing homes

U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey are teaming up on bipartisan legislation for nursing home reform.
The bill aims to increase accountability for the poorest performing nursing homes and to expand a program that provides oversight for these facilities.
According to Senators Toomey and Casey, right now there are more than 500 facilities nationwide that have failed to meet federal rules on safety and care — but less than a fifth are chosen to participate in the program.
