BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Musikfest is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of people to Bethlehem in two weeks.
The ungated, mostly-free music festival will encourage standard safety measures as it welcomes back crowds following a mostly virtual festival in 2020.
Kassie Hilgert, president and CEO of ArtsQuest, which runs the festival, said the nonprofit organization will follow all city, state and federal guidelines when it comes to keeping guests safe.
“If you’re vaccinated, you can walk around as you wish and enjoy yourself,” Hilgert said. “If you’re not vaccinated, we ask that you wear a mask going into the ArtsQuest Center.”
She added those guidelines will also pertain to Main Street businesses, unless they have their own protocols.
Bethlehem Health Director Kristen Wenrich said the city is also involved.
“We’re talking about hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer stations — safety protocols for artists and vendors,” she said.
A new Musikfest app is available and will include public health information.
Musikfest runs Aug. 6-15 and includes a preview night Thursday, Aug. 5, with a ticketed performance by Darius Rucker on the Steel Stage.
