Tamaqua Restaurant Closes its Doors Temporarily

An Italian restaurant in Tamaqua temporarily closed its doors last week as after learning an employee was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
La Dolce Casa has been in the community of Tamaqua for 32 years. Co-owner Alfonso Picone says after hearing about the exposure, all of his employees were tested by the town doctor, results coming in negative, but he still closed the doors.
“I made the decision which it wasn’t easy to make. It wasn’t easy to make when you have 30 people employed there. Money is not equal with somebody to get hurt and somebody to lose somebody’s life, how can I live with myself?” said Picone.
Picone says he will reopen after his doctor says it’s safe. As for business, the restaurant has been busier since the pandemic hit Schuylkill County.
“It’s a lot of anxiety and a lot of stress because you have to make sure that everybody gets their food on time, which it’s hard to do. We have a thousand orders and everything’s made from scratch. But after all, everybody loves us. We love them,” said Picone.
