Closed since early December in an attempt to curb coronavirus spread in the vast complex, Pennsylvania’s Capitol building is slated to reopen to the public next week.

Listen to the story.

Lawmakers and staff, lobbyists and journalists with ID badges have still been allowed into the facility.

Now, as long as members of the public wear masks and keep socially distant, they’ll be permitted to enter for things like tours starting March 22.

The Department of General Services, which oversees the Capitol complex, says outdoor rallies can happen if health rules are followed, but indoor rallies remain banned until further notice.

Special Response Team officers, who have been part of the enhanced security measures in place since the January insurrection at the U-S Capitol, will remain on duty for the foreseeable future.
